The Biltmore Golf Course in Coral Gables sits next to the beautiful hotel, an architectural masterpiece that was modeled after the Giralda Tower in Seville, Spain. Donald Ross designed the course in 1925 and the traditional layout has retained all of its original character. The golf course weaves through a series of canals that used to carry guests along in gondolas. The canals run alongside the lush fairways while towering banyan trees frame the elevated greens. Offering views of the historic hotel from nearly every hole, there are carts available but the golf course is worth the walk. The layout is popular not only for its historic scenery and verdant setting, but also for its playability. Over the years the Biltmore has been host to a number of professional golfers and celebrities ranging from Babe Ruth to Tiger Woods.

The greens are generally in excellent condition and roll very smooth and true. Some of the tee boxes and the fairways are very inconsistent and can be bare and patchy. The course layout is interesting and a good challenge to all levels. Plenty of water to keep the drives and approaches interesting. Not very long at 6700 from the tips, but the large greens are a good challenge with plenty of slopes.

A great location on the Biltmore hotel site with great amenities and post game services.

Pretty disappointed in the course condition here. This place could be one of the best golf destinations in Miami, especially considering the Biltmore’s history with the city. The value is just not there if you do not get a good deal on one of the golf apps.

Pros:

Course layout is nice and not boring

Most of the course has the Hotel in the background, which is nice and adds to the ambiance of the game

Starters and staff are very nice and professional

Sand traps and greens are in excellent condition

Practice greens and chipping greens are excellent

Old Florida feel

Cons

Fairways and tee boxes are in terrible condition, so bad that it makes the whole course feel like a cheap public value course

Food is mediocre at best. This being the biltmore, they should be putting out items to make the golfers stick around

If you are paying anything over $80, spend the extra few bucks and play Trump Doral

I booked a round for 2 city of Coral Gables residents for $77 on GolfNow. When I checked in with the pro shop, I was charged $102. The pro shop staff said it was because my friend and I were going to ride in a cart. Even though I pointed out the price on GolfNow said "cart included," and showed them the reservation on my phone, the staff would not budge on the price.

Like I told the pro shop staff, I don't mind paying $102 to play, except the price I signed up for was different on GolfNow. Even though I spoke with a very nice GN rep on the phone, the price problem was never resolved, though she is sending a dozen golf balls my way.

Bottom line, to avoid surprises, verify the price with the Biltmore before playing.

The course is very good.

I’ve played this course 50 times over the years l like the changes they made and next year it should be a lot better as greens will not be rock hard and fairways grow in..i played there two times this week and the pro shop has no control of the course. 5 hours on Sunday 1/13:19 and 5 1:/2 hours Tuesday 1/15:19 I will not be going back again this winter.. There’s people who are not playing golf wandering on the course people kayaking in the canals. Slow slow....

Nice large greens, true and quick, a real joy. Great staff. Do you ever put the hole location on 18 on the left?? The fairways are still not grown in yet. Great practice areas. I wish the cart paths had been removed during remodel, it's a great course to walk. I could tee off as a walker before the cart arrived on the next hole.

We paid $45 with a Golf Now Hot Deal so we were happy. The course has only been open for 6 weeks or so after several months closure for full renovations. So we knew it was not going to be at it’s best, which it wasn’t, many fairways were in rough shape and had a lot of bare and repaired patches, although greens ran smoothly and bunkers were great. But what irked me, is that the current going rate on this course for out of towners is $200, while county pays $112 and Coral Gables residents $86. That is really poor value, especially considering the course was not overly busy. I think the Biltmore needs to research their pricing model a bit more, as any smart golfer has plenty of other courses to choose from that may still charge top dollar but at least will be in top condition. So find a Hot Deal or find another course.

I liked the course layout and challenging decision making for the placement of the ball on the fairways and the greens. The renovations have not fully settled in and car path only policy slowed down the pace of the play considerably. This course can be an excellent course when it is fully healed and restored.

Improvements to the course were not visible, except for a few new bunkers. An instructor with four kids ages 12 to 16 teed off two groups in front of us (12:50 pm) which delayed us almost 30 minutes in front and it took a call to pro shop to get them removed.

After several months of renovation and re-design with re-sodding, plus the addition of 14 bunkers and stretched-out holes, The Biltmore has re-opened for business, perhaps earlier than ideally desired. While the true-rolling greens and fluffy bunkers were in splendid condition at this much-beloved track, the fairways and tee boxes need a few months of rainy, humid weather to fill out, particularly on the front nine. And it was cart path only for the two of us as we labored behind a pair of walking! senior players who were often cantering all about, determined not to let us play through until the 12th hole. After that, we zipped through with nary a player in front of us, nor the beverage cart gal, who disappeared after the front nine. As usual, all of the Biltmore staff were polite and professional. Though I did not eat there after this round, the 19th Hole restaurant offers beautiful views of the course from outdoor tables, as well as tasty food. The $45 Hot Deal was worth a visit to play on my former home course,, but a return visit will not happen till May or June.
