Of all the public courses in Massachusetts, this is definitely one of them. Set in a swamp, even on a hot, dry, beautiful day you will find standing water in fairways and clippings from mowing the course strewn about. If it wasn’t priced 50 dollars for a Saturday round and if “country club” wasn’t in the name- perhaps the review would be better. Unfortunately the expectations set by name and price are not lived up to by the course itself. Get more for your dollar by going to Newton Commonwealth (same management group!) or Robert Lynch in Brookline. Just really not worth the price they charge.

And all of that is only on the front nine (taken from my google review while making the turn) On the back nine, youll be treated to a downed power line on 10, and low flying single engine planes wobbily making their approach to the nearby private airport. Save your money and the headache and play somewhere else. Staff are great, but as it is, the place is not a salvageable location for a course.

Course was very wet, low to average conditions, greens not well taken care of. Fairways to close together, people hitting balls from other fairways, almost hitting other golfers. Would not golf there again unless it was cheaper priced for its condition.

Booked a round on GolfNow for 9:40 am and paid for it online. Went in and the country club had no record of it. Course was wet and swampy. And next door to the airport so lot of action in the air = lot of noise when trying to tee off.

Played worse places.

Played better places.

This was close and cheap and did the trick.

It rained a lot the night before and there was a ton of water/puddles all over the course (really pour drainage) and we weren't allowed to play the front 9 because it was so wet. We had to play the back 9 twice. Almost every hole was really straight and easy, and we kept losing balls in puddles of water.

Poor drainage and heavy clay soil and low elevation makes this last place to dry out, with front nine being substantially worse that back. Front nine is barely playable due to rainy May. No roll whatsoever, of course.

The front nine was extremely wet and did not have good drainage in place. Probably the wettest front nine I’ve ever played on, even on a perfect sunny day. However, the back nine was in better condition. Not a bad course layout, drainage definitely needs improvement.

Norwood is a no frills, beer and a shot type of course. I learned how to play golf here so it has a very special place in my heart. The course is well tended with incredibly helpful and friendly staff.

I had a 1:20 tee time on 9/14/18. There was a tournament in progress and was moving slowly due to the rain the past few days making the course cart path only. Waiting a half hour beyond our tee time with more golfers on the tee I went in the Pro shop to speak with the fellow behind the counter. He was pleasant and apologetic. I told him I would wait a while longer but might ask for a rain check.

The golf pro John Resnick came over and talked to me just as I was calling Golf Now. Great guy, in fact, he was also manning the grill for the tournament but took the time to ask me if everything was okay. He agreed to giving us ( my brother and I ) a rain check via his business card and said I could bring 2 more golfers for the inconvenience. I had not played Norwood in years because I live in FL now, but wanted to remark how cordial and concerned he was. Service, ethics and common sense do not seem to exist much any more but they are alive and well at Norwood Country Club. Only used the range and putting green while we were there but the course looked in great shape. I am looking forward to going back and play in the next week or so. Thank you John.

I was pretty disappointed in the round at Norwood CC. The course fairways are the worst condition I have ever seen. Pace of play would've been better had there been a starter. It was a free for all to tee off. $56 isn't a lot to spend to play golf but there are plenty of better options on GolfNow.

Yes, Norwood is a fair, easy golf course for a low handicapper, yet I used every club in my bag. I wanted to relay to all golfers the huge improvements concerning course conditions. The greens a pure bent and roll beautifully, the fairways are now defined, they have expanded the fringe areas (collection areas) which helps the golfer and speeds up play, the prices are incredible and the bar is a fun place afterwards.

Norwood Country Club is where I learned how to play the game many, many years ago. Being in my hometown it was convenient and inexpensive, a perfect combination for a teenager. I would recommend this course for beginners as it is pretty straightforward,. the holds are lined up side by side like aisles in a costco. The staff is VERY nice and helpful
